Unit Objectives The objectives of this unit is to provide a knowledge base as to the materia medica of herbs. The herbs to be covered in this unit are to be found in Appendix I. Items to be covered in this unit include the botanical and common names of the herbs, the parts used, their major actions and indications, their chemical constituents, their dosages, their preparations, cautions and contra-indications.

- The material medica of herbs according to the liver and gall bladder
- The material medica of herbs according to the musculo-skeletal system
- The material medica of herbs according to the reproductive system
- The material medica of herbs according to the endocrine system
- The material medica of herbs according to the lymphatic system
